Endowed Gifts

Your Gift Can Last Forever

An endowment gift to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Foundation today provides a brighter picture for our future. When you make a donation to an endowment, you give a gift with both immediate and long-term benefits.

Endowment donations are invested. A portion of the annual income from the investment is used to address immediate needs at Mary Bird Perkins. The remaining funds are reinvested to ensure indefinite support.

Establish a Named Endowed Fund

You can permanently name an Endowed Fund based on what is most meaningful to you or the individual in which the gift is named. The investment that results from your Named Endowed Fund will have a lasting and compounding impact on the fight against cancer. Consider the many options below where your investment can make a difference.

Mission Fund

The Mission Fund directs investments to programs across the cancer care continuum. The objective of the mission fund is to extend vital financial resources to validated initiatives that improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer.

Pillar Funds

The Cancer Center has identified key elements of cancer care and relies on generous community support to fund these critical areas. In most instances, programs supported by Pillar Funds exist because of philanthropic support. A gift directed toward a Pillar Fund will make a difference in the lives of many.

Prevention

Enhances wellness and early detection and reduces cancer mortality in workplace and community settings.

Research

Provides patients greater access to groundbreaking clinical trials by funding recruiting and screening initiatives, as well as monitoring and reporting research results. This pillar also includes support for translational research originated by the medical physics program.

Patient Care

Funds programs and services for patients undergoing highly-specialized treatments such as palliative care, as well as funding services for patients and families in need.

Patient Support

Supports programs and services including patient navigation, transportation services, food security and nutritional counseling.

Innovation

Provides visionary resources to offer next-generation medicine and technology with a strong foundation for the future by developing a cancer program on par with national academic cancer centers.

Education

Ensures continuing education for physicians and all oncology health clinicians to enhance care throughout the organization, including supporting scholars, fellows, graduate education programs focused on oncology research and inspiring scientists and medical professionals to seek best practices in caring for cancer patients.

Survivorship

Provides survivorship programs for patients and caregivers that include health and wellness education, psychosocial counseling, financial counseling and the healing arts program, which includes meditation, art therapy and more.

An Example of How It Works

Couple Smiling Longtime Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Foundation supporters Charlie and Susan have two goals: First, they want to make sure the Foundation continues to receive support after they are gone. Second, they want to create a lasting legacy for Charlie’s parents.

Charlie and Susan make a $100,000 donation to the Foundation, which we invest, and each year, a portion of the income from the invested money will be used to support our mission in honor of Charlie’s parents. Plus, Charlie and Susan qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction on their taxes.
